The same route, from Marrakech to Fes

The operator of our featured small-group tour runs the route the other way: from a cafe on Jemaa el-Fna over the High Atlas to the Dades Gorges, then to a private en-suite tent at a luxury camp in Erg Chebbi, and on to Fes. Pick it if you land in Marrakech and want to finish in Fes.

Marrakech to Fes 3-Day Desert Tour

About this experience

You meet at Le Grand Balcon du Cafe Glacier on Jemaa el-Fna and head straight into the High Atlas. Day one has an hour at Ait Ben Haddou, a stop in Ouarzazate and ends at Hotel Babylon Dades, in a private air-conditioned room with an en-suite bathroom.

Doing it this way round puts the desert on the second night. Day two passes the Todra Gorge to Merzouga, and you sleep at Africa Luxury Camp or similar in a private luxury tent with an en-suite bathroom. Day three goes up the Ziz Canyon and through the Azrou cedar forest and Ifrane to Fes, where you're dropped at the nearest point a car can reach to your hotel or riad.

Groups are 10 at most and the rating is 5.0 from 461 reviews. The High Atlas crossing comes on the first morning, when you're fresh, and the longest leg, Merzouga to Fes, comes last. Two breakfasts and two dinners are included; lunches, drinks and tips aren't. The listing rules it out for back problems, pregnancy and heart conditions. The Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou is a UNESCO World Heritage ksar.
